We have an outstanding selection of Chateau de la Maltroye wines arriving direct from the domaine.

Situated in Chassagne-Montrachet in the south of the Cote d’Or, Chateau de la Maltroye has been a family property since 1939. It is easily recognizable by its 18th century, glazed tile roof. The vineyard encompasses over 32 acres in Chassagne-Montrachet and 5 acres in Santenay.

Jean-Pierre Cornut, the current wine-grower, has magnificently reinvigorated this domain which now produces some of the best Chassagne-Montrachet on the market. Indeed, the whites made by Jean-Pierre are vibrant, intense, and thrilling. Chassagne naturally lends power and richness to chardonnay, but Cornut is expert in retaining and extracting great tangy acidity and mineral depth to match.

We have a great selection of Chassagne Montrachet village and 1er Crus, including wines from highly sought after vineyards like La Romanee, Les Grandes Ruchottes, and La Dent de Chien. Don’t miss the Batard Montrachet Grand Cru...

But a clear sign of his wine-making ability is that he is also one of Chassagne-Montrachet’s leading producer of reds. Pinot Noir was once the dominant variety in Chassagne, but has today retreated to just the core of the most suitable terroir for the grape. His monopole Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Clos du Chateau’ is one of the village’s best reds, and one of the best quality-for-price reds in Burgundy.

Claudie Jobard, Rully, Burgundy 🍇🇫🇷
Her mother Laurence was for many years the highly-respected head winemaker at Joseph Drouhin, and her family runs a nursery which multiplies vines for replanting top vineyards throughout Burgundy.

Since 2002 Claudie has been making her own wines in Rully, and from 2011 took over responsibility for additional family vineyards, producing tiny quantities including two Pommards and a First Growth Beaune, Les Epenottes. All vineyards are now cultivated organically.
The wines of Pommard are renowned for their structured and powerful cuvées and this example is no disappointment. A nose of fragrant cherry precedes an intense framed mouthful of deep berry fruit and blackcurrants, with great balancing acidity and length. It is of course very young, yet is already showing signs that with time this will be absolutely delicious.
