Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques 1er Cru 🍷

A true legend of Burgundy in a glass.

Clos St. Jacques is one of the most famous vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin. Many consider it worthy of Grand Cru status, even though it’s officially classified as Premier Cru.

🌿 The vineyard covers only about 6.7 hectares.
🪨 The soils are a mix of limestone and marl.
🍒 The wine is known for incredible depth, elegance, and the ability to age beautifully for decades.

Expect aromas of red berries, cherry, spices, and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, it’s refined and impressively long, embodying everything lovers of great Burgundy seek.

This wine isn’t just a drink—it’s a story in a glass.

Answers to Wine Questions 🍷

3️⃣ How to properly store wine at home so it doesn’t lose its taste?
• Temperature: Ideal storage temperature is between +10 to +16°C (50–60°F). Wine doesn’t like sudden changes in temperature.
• Lighting: Keep bottles in a dark place or cabinet — direct sunlight can spoil the taste.
• Bottle position: If the wine has a natural cork, store it horizontally — this prevents the cork from drying out and letting in air.
• Humidity: Optimal humidity is 60–70%, to keep the cork from shrinking.
• Long-term storage: For aged wines, it’s best to use a wine fridge or a cellar.

5️⃣ How to know if a wine has “gone bad”?
• A vinegar-like or sour smell — the wine has oxidized.
• A sharp smell of moldy cardboard — could be cork taint (caused by fungus or “cork disease”).
• Change in color: White wines darken, red wines may turn brownish.
• Fizz or bubbles in still wine — it may have started fermenting again.
• Unpleasant taste: If it’s bitter, vinegary, or overly harsh — better not drink it.

7️⃣ How to properly taste wine as a beginner?
1️⃣ Look: Observe the color and clarity. White wines range from pale straw to amber, red wines from ruby to deep garnet.
2️⃣ Smell: Take a sniff, swirl the glass, and sniff again — you’ll notice more layers. Aromas might include fruit, berries, flowers, spices, wood, or chocolate.
3️⃣ Taste: Take a small sip, hold it in your mouth to explore the flavors — it might be sweet, dry, tannic, light, or bold.
4️⃣ Remember: What flavors did you enjoy? How is this wine different from others? The more you taste, the better you understand what you like.

📌 Tip: Start with light whites or fruity reds, then move to more complex wines. Most importantly — enjoy the experience! 😊🍷

Best restaurants in Burgundy

At L’Asperule, Chef Keigo Kimura masterfully blends Japanese accents with French cuisine in an elegant restaurant in Dijon. His dishes are a testament to precision and balance, where local ingredients like Pinot Noir-based sauces and mustard meet Asian influences. Unforgettable creations include his wild game gyoza with red wine sauce and tender lamb shoulder cooked over binchotan charcoal. And the wine cellar? A true treasure for connoisseurs.

The legendary restaurant Lameloise began its journey to the stars back in 1926. However, age has only added to its charm: traditions are cherished here, but there’s always a forward-looking spirit. Chef Eric Pras, who took the helm in 2009, masterfully reinterprets Burgundy’s cuisine, using the finest local ingredients—such as escargot, Bresse poultry, Charolais beef, and Morvan hazelnuts. Culinary delights are perfectly paired with an outstanding wine selection, including options by the glass. Cozy dining rooms with exposed beams and vaulted ceilings create a warm atmosphere, ideal for savoring both the flavors and the history.

The cozy family-run restaurant La Table de Hôte, located near a seaside resort, has become a favorite spot for flavor enthusiasts. Chef Yoann Lavalley uses an oven from his apprenticeship days to craft exquisite seasonal dishes with a focus on local ingredients: fresh fish, regional meats, and Norman cheeses. His wife, a sommelier, has curated an excellent wine list offering great value for money. This is a place where everyone will find a reason to return.

Immerse yourself in French cuisine at La Ciboulette. Taste fillet steak, amuse-bouche, foie gras, and for dessert - parfait or profiteroles. You will be pleased with excellent wine and aromatic coffee. Energetic staff, pleasant atmosphere and affordable prices will make your visit especially comfortable.

At Garum you will be welcomed with exquisite Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Try pate, terrine, burrata, and for dessert - tiramisu or parfait. Excellent wine will complete your evening. Professional staff, impeccable service, stylish interior and calm atmosphere will create an unforgettable atmosphere.

Krug, Brut Rose is a fine example of the Krug house’s art of assemblage 🍇

In 1976, inspired by the magnificent harvest, Henri and Rémi Krug decided to experiment and put the first Krug rosé wine in the cellar. In 1983 they brought out a few bottles and presented a glass to their father Paul II. He didn’t know anything about the experiment, but was absolutely delighted with the new champagne, that impressed with the notes of forest berries, exotic spices and flowers, fascinating with its freshness and silky texture. Since then, the production of luxurious rose champagne has become a new tradition for the Krug family 🍾
