🥂🌸Clos Teddi Grande Cuvée Rosé 2023 and National Rosé Day🥂🌸

🌸Clos Teddi Cuvée Rosé 2023 is more than just a wine, it is a testament to a legacy of courage, dedication and the enduring spirit of family.

🌸Founded by Jo Poli, an Algerian war veteran, at the end of the 1960s, Clos Teddi is situated at the foot of Mount Genova, the highest point in the Agriates region. At 421 meters above sea level, this vineyard represents the culmination of Jo's dream to start anew after a harsh past.

🌸Jo poured his heart and soul into cultivating this neglected land of 40 hectares into a flourishing vineyard. The vines he planted - Niellucciu, Vermentinu, and Sciaccarellu - all Corsican, reflecting the island's rich voticultural heritage.

🌸At just 17 years old, Marie-Brigitte, Jo's daughter, faced an immense challenge after her father passing away: to sell the vineyard or to continue her father's dream. Driven by a strong determination, she chose the last, despite her lack of agricultural knowledge. Her journey was one of learning and perseverance as she restored the vines, professionalized the elaboration process and steadily improved the quality of the wines.

🌸Today, Clos Teddi has become a prestigious name in the Patrimoniu Appellation, in Corsica and beyond. Producing 120.000 bottles annually.

🌸This Grande Cuvée Rosé 2023 stands in the high league of Rosé and clearly amongst the very Bests I had this year.

🌸The wine presents a luminous bright clear pale pink quartz colour with a delicate and vibrant profile with a concentration of floral notes, and citrus fruits. Then follows hints of pink grapefruits, with a mineral developpement and saline finish with pebbles from the sea to flow through the palate with a nice length and an end of palate all in subtility. Elaborated from 75% Niellucciu and 25% Sciacarellu grape varieties.

🌸This is a Wow!! wine. Very elegant with balance, concentration and subtle complexity which makes it a versatile companion for a variety of dishes including for the most gastronomic meals. A beautiful wine. I highly recommend💖💖💖 Happy weekend !!

🌸Have you ever had wines from Corsica?

🥂📝What the heck is Brandy in the first place?

🥂📝It is the spirited descendant of wine, capturing the essence of the grape and extending its life beyond harvest through time and history.

🥂📝Considering this, Brandy can be considered the noblest of all spirits because it is obtained from the distillation of wine. Brandy's relationship with wine is as intrinsic as it is profound. The voice of the terroir, the selection of grapes, the hand of the winemaker and the always deft artistry of the cellar master to create a symphony of blending and ageing - every step in the making of Brandy is a tribute to its viticultural genesis.

🌟Bodega Mallorca Palma Distillery Tours with Gourmet Tapas🌟

🌟A story which started in 1840 in Cuba where the founder of the bodega Juan Suau I Bennasar was a visionary businessman, a traveller, and a trader. He travelled the oceans on a commercial route between the Caribbean and the Iberian Peninsula, carrying wines and Spanish goods and bringing back products from the new world.

🌟On one of his travels, his adventures took him to Cuba, at a key moment in the history of the world of distillates and spirits, just a few years before the founding of the great Cuban Rum Houses. In 1845, Juan Suau setted up his first distillery, a Rum Distillery, with a Cuban partner.

🌟After several years of hard work, he came back to Mallorca for a well deserved rest, where he met the woman of his life, whose wealthy family had imposed to him to stop his business abroad and settle completely in his native Mallorca. For the love of his life, he sold his boat and founded in 1851 Suau Bodegas y Destilerías elaborating all sorts of spirits, but above all Brandy.

🌟Today, we had the absolute pleasure to enjoy a private visit with best tik tok food blogger of Germany 2024, tasting the 3 Premium Brandies of 15, 25 and 50 years of age directly from the barrel, including a tasting of the Rum Ron Jungla, the Maior Gin and the Orange Brandy, all paired with delicious hand-made gourmet tapas. Cheers, dear !

🥂🌸Château Sainte Marguerite En Provence🌸🥂

🥂🌸Coming back virtually to Paris to talk about the two other wines of the : the white & the red.

🥂🌸The Marguerites en Provence Blanc 2022 elaborated from 100% Rolle grape variety, also known as Vermentino (the beloved & delicious white grape variety which you can find as well in Italy and Corsica).

🥂🌸The grapes are harvested from the plots of La Désirade and Maravenne. This wine impressed me by its level of concentration, which we come across quite rarely, its elegance, precision, and finesse. A wine with structure, character, with full body, on notes of ripe yellow fruits, fresh juicy yellow plums, flower blossom, vanilla, butter, and at last a salty, rosemary note, with a hint of resinous flavors. A wine which has been aged for 24 months in umami barrels, giving a distinctive depth, broadness and volume to the wine.

🥂🌸Exploring a further step the range of the Collection Marguerites with Marguerites en Provence Rouge 2021 elaborated from grapes of Syrah and Grenache from the plots of Saint Pons, Le Jeannette and Mont Redon. This wine expresses beautifully the terroir of La Londe on delecting notes of refreshing juicy red and black fruits, pepper and spices, velvet & round tannins with a touch of elegant wood notes and a cloud of cream. The wine has been aged for 24 months in new oak barrels.

🥂🌸🎯 To resume in a few words the Collection Marguerites wines: the rosé (previously reviewed, see pinned posts), the white and red: I would describe them as modern, extremely refined and elegant wines with character and each with their distinctive personality. ❗️Wines with a Wow factor❗️

🥂🌸Presentation expertly led by Master of Wine Elizabeth Gabay .gabaymw Head Sommelier Florent Martin Chef David Bizet and Winemaker Olivier Fayard
🌟Wishing you all a beautiful evening and good rest of the week dear . Cheers!🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂

✨️A relaxing weekend with a visit to , comfort food and one of my favourite wines from Mallorca: Chardonnay Roure from Miquel Gelabert.

✨️In 1985, Miquel Gelabert and his wife Maria, began to make wine from the family's vineyards as a hobby. Many, if not most winemakers in Mallorca have started this way.

✨️Given the excellent quality of the wines obtained, they started to propose it in their own restaurant and ended up founding a winery. Vins Miquel Gelabert was founded as a small family business with the aim to research and improve the vine growing to produce the best quality wines with only 40.000 to 45.000 liters produced per year depending on the harvest.

✨️Today Miquel Gelabert grows 30 different grape varieties, from 11 vineyards, elaborating 27 unique wines and having received 150 awards. A reference in the Mallorquin wine scene.

✨️Now about the wine: Chardonnay Roure from Miquel Gelabert
🍇100% Chardonnay
🪵Roure= meaning oaked in new French oak barrels
⏳️Aged for 6 months on its lees in French barrels and 6 months in the bottle
🌱Espalier training
📍Manacor, Mallorca, DO Pla I Llevant
🥂Alcoholic and malo in French oak barrels from Allier and Nevers.
👁Bright, clean and shiny golden yellow hue.
👃Aromas of ripe fruit, vanilla, oak with a slight smokiness.
👄A very well balanced Chardonnay between the ripe fruit notes of pineapple, mango, peaches, the acidity of citrus, the perfume of infused vanilla, a touch of butter and the wooden notes bringing a delightful voluptuousness and mouth coating viscosity on the palate, long on the palate.
🎯 A very well balanced full bodied oaked Chardonnay with elegance and without overwhelming tropical fruits.
One of those wines, I keep coming back too with great pleasure.
🥂Cheers dear wishing you a great Sunday!🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂

🐣🥂Wishing you all a Happy Easter weekend! 🐣🥂

🥂Reaching the chapter on Andalusia and now going through the wines of Jerez with Villapanés Oloroso Seco from Emilio Hidalgo.

🥂Sherry wines are definitely a category of their own with a wide range of diversity. They can be dry, or sweet, and with various type of flavours.

🥂As its name indicates, Villapanés Oloroso Seco, I'm tasting here in the picture is dry.

🥂The Hidalgo family began its activity in 1874, starting from vineyards and wine soleras of their property. It is one of the few family wineries that retain facilities in the historic center of Jerez de la Frontera.

🥂The wine starts its life with a 2-3 year period of biological ageing under a layer of flor, and then spends at least 15 years or so ageing oxidatively. The bottled wine is just almost 20 years old!

🥂What were its aromas like?
👃In the nose, you would expect a sweet wine, but its not! It has aromas of dried raisins, vanilla, nuts, buttery caramel, roasted almonds, hazelnuts.

👄And in the palate, it is dry and concentrated, warm, generous, to***co, nuts, hazelnuts, roasted almonds, with a mineral background, mushroom touches, a hint of oak, long development on toasted notes with a long finish on minerality. Really interesting wine!

🥂I tried various pairings with it being curious about it: Asparagus soup, Emmental cheese, Reblochon cheese, Morbier cheese, Iberico ham, mushroom risotto, milk chocolates, praliné chocolates, and dark chocolates. My favs were with the mushroom risotto, with the asparagus soup and the dark chocolates. 😋👌

🥂What did you guys have for your Easter meal?

🍷Going through right now the wines from the Levant region of Spain which comprises two autonomous regions: Valencia and Murcia.

The region of Valencia has 3 DOs:
DO Valencia
DO Utiél Requena
DO Alicante
and 1 IGP: VT Castelló

The region of Murcia has 3 DOs :
DO Bullas
DO Yecla
DO Jumilla
and 2 IGP: VT Campo de Cartagena, VT Murcia.

These southern lands being home of the Bobal and Monastrell grape variety amongst others of course, both being native Spanish grapes and therefore completely adapted to the harsh hot climates found here.

The DO Jumilla being the most famous and where Clio (the wine in the picture) is elaborated with its bigger brother El Nido. Both being iconic wines from Bodegas El Nido.

Clio 2017 is clearly a bomb for 40€!
70% Monastrell, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Between 22 and 26 months in French and American oak.
👁 Very deep in colour ruby purple.
👃Ripe primary aromas of black and red fruits from the Monastrell grapes. Blackcurrant and blackberries from the Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanilla, leather, and at last menthol at the very end of the nose.
👄 Full bodied wine, ripe fruits as above, dark fruits, vanilla, leather, complex wine with many layers, voluptous, soft rounded tannins, a wine in perfect balance, eventhough the alcohol level is quite high (15,5%, its south of Spain!) It is still very easy to drink. The cab brings to the "ensemble" acidity and freshness. A fantastic wine. Extremely elegant with subtility and balance. Enjoy. Cheers winelovers!

🥂Delicious rosé Binimaimó from Bodega Can Feliu, a small winery from Mallorca producing organic and biodynamic wines. The only winery of Mallorca to have obtained the Demeter certification.

But do you know what is the Demeter certification?
It is the largest biodynamic agriculture label and is one of the 3 predominent organic certifiers. It is a difficult certification to obtain and requires biodiversity and ecosystem preservation, prohibition of genetically engineered organisms and views the agricultural methods as a living "holistic organism".

Binimaimó Rosé 2018 is a fresh and delightful rosé which I had great pleasure to finish the bottle!
Made of Merlot grapes, which was partly picked early to keep its freshness and fruity notes. The overall was very well balanced, very nicely integrated acidity and a boom on fresh fruit notes of red berries, strawberries, raspberries, accompanied with a flowery touch, and meditteranean herbs. A dense rosé with volume with a long finish on elegant minerality. Pairing idealy with my Sashimi of tuna on a bed of seaweed salad with mango and red peppers. Delicious. Cheers winelovers!
