Beer Snob

Beer Snob This page is dedicated to worldly beers and international beer lovers. My name is Neil, I was born in Scotland and I am currently located in Bucharest, Romania.

While my dad was hoping to raise a whiskey drinker, I turned out to enjoy beer more. Over the last years, my travelling lead me to taste and experience many different types of beer. So I decided to create this page, in order to keep a journal of the varieties I tried and get to inspire others to experience new types of beer. If you happen to visit this page, don’t hesitate to share yours as well. Cheers!

On one of our precious Lepi Dečki posts, I wrote about Psychedelia no.2 which was the vanilla & oak chips version a & Josh wrote about Psychedelia No.1 which is the base Barleywine. Only this time we switch up the reviews so below is about the base Barleywine
Pours deep copper in colour with a reddish hue & with a creamy tan foam that keeps the retention impressively
Aroma brings barley up front followed by toffee & caramel from the sweet malts. Some herbal notes and a hint of booze makes this a tempting offer
Full body with a slightly sticky but soft mouthfeel. Taste starts off with the malts dominating as you some nutty, biscuity vibes hit before a wave of sticky caramel & toffee comes through. So things aren’t all sweet you get some spicy liquorice and a herbal bitterness hit the tastebuds
The finish is dry but still has all that sweetness from the malts but the herbal bitterness lasts long to give a wonderful balance. The base barleywine is just so impressive just like the vanilla & oak chip version. I’m excited to see what’s next in this series

The finish is super juicy with some pine along with a delicate bitterness. Once again another super delicious juicy belter by Overtone Brewing
Cheers!

Here we have a Tiramisu inspired imperial stout which is laden with speciality coffee & gourmet vanilla so really fancy stuff
Pours jet black with a slight creamy tan head
Aroma brings freshly roasted coffee & sweet vanilla up front before biscuity & roasted malts plus chocolate come in nicely
Full body with a slick, oily mouthfeel. Taste starts off with a real kick of freshly brewed coffee before sweet vanilla glides in. A wave of rich chocolate along with biscuity & roasted malts just give such a satisfaction
The finish is sweet, decadent plus a little bitter with a real boozy punch. This is a true liquid tiramisu that just delights the tastebuds on each sip. Check out what & think of this one
