Interim conclusion after 3 weeks: What is going well in the sunflower test – and what isn't? 🌻
Quick recap of the experimental setup:
👉️ 4 plots: ploughing, deep (20 cm) tillage, shallow tillage (10 cm) & direct seeding
👉️ Fertilisation: underground fertilisation with urea (45 to 75 kg/ha) or contact fertilisation while sowing with UAN (40 to 60 l/ha)
After 3 weeks, differences in emergence can be observed:
▶️ Visually, the best impression is with the cultivated variants using urea as starter fertiliser.
▶️ With the variants using 50 l/ha UAN, we are seeing problems with emergence. We suspect burns.
👉️ Learning: In future tests with liquid fertiliser, we will pay attention to low application rates or a greater distance to the seed row (> 2 cm).
▶️ The direct seeding variants are slightly behind in development compared to the variants with prior soil cultivation.
Of course, we will continue to monitor the development of the crops and keep you updated here!
What strategy are you using for sunflowers this year?
