Skatepark for Steve Event
& Fundraiser 2016! We are excited for our 2016 Skatepark for Steve Event and Fundraiser to be held on April 9th, 2016, at Hogey’s Sports Bar in Orangeville! We were unable to hold the event last year, but 2016 has brought a new momentum and eagerness to bring together the skate community once again – to honor the life of Steve Boyd. Steve was a passionate artist, a badass
skateboarder and mentor to the youth community in Orangeville with his involvement in the summer camp program. We lost him to an accident March 29, 2013. In his honor, we will continue to work towards our goal of improving Rotary Skateboard Park and perhaps creating a new skate pad in town, a project which some of the guys have presented to Rotary for input. Lots of ideas are in the works! Our goal is to host this event annually, to bring the skate community and the community as a whole together, creating new friendships and enhancing the opportunities for youth to be active both physically and as part of a core “skate group”! Our first event raised close to $11,000 which is being held in the Stephen Boyd Memorial Fund at RBC. We are hoping to continue to raise funds and awareness, so that proposed changes can start with a healthy account. We are confident that Rotary Club and Town of Orangeville will participate with funding as well, once proposals are made to both organizations. Skatepark for Steve 2016 event will consist of a $25.00 ticket, which includes a live band, finger food buffet, silent auction, raffle table, door prizes, virtual golf contest and more! Please join us in participating/attending this event for a fantastic time with good friends, good food, good music and good vibes, and help us keeps Steve’s memory alive!
