Contrary to popular belief, an izakaya is not simply an “authentic Japanese restaurant.” The wonderful selection of foods is just half of the izakaya experience. Chocolate chip cookies without milk? An izakaya is the ultimate eating and drinking experience. The colourful menus present hungry patrons with pages of mouth-watering Japanese foods to choose from. The selection seems almost limitless. • An izakaya is not the place to order one boring dish for yourself. The portions are a little smaller than what you might expect, but this is so that you can order plate after plate of great food, and share the feast with your friends!
• It’s easier to share a pitcher of Sapporo or a fine Japanese sake with a group.
• No indoor voices necessary here! (Even the servers are loud.) Now that you have a better understanding of a Japanese izakaya, why don’t you pop by DonDon and try it out?
