Notice of Annual Meeting
BC/Yukon Command of The Royal Canadian Legion

BC/Yukon Command Executive Council of The Royal Canadian Legion hereby gives notice of an Annual General Meeting of the Command, which will take place at 8:30am on Saturday, 3 October 2026 at Aldergrove Branch #265 26607 Fraser Highway, Langley, BC, immediately preceding the Fall PEC meeting.

Agenda for the meeting:

1. Presentation of the 2025 Audited Financial Statements.
2. Approval of the auditors for 2026.

This meeting is being held to fulfill the requirements of the Canada Not-ForProfit Corporations Act (CNCA).

Members wishing to make comment or raise questions on these two items may do so by written submission to BC/Yukon Command, #503 – 17665 66A Avenue, Surrey BC V3S 2A7 to be received no later than 28 September 2026.

Canada Post marks Royal Canadian Legion's 100th anniversary with commemorative stamp.

To mark the Legion's 100th anniversary, Canada Post issued a new stamp celebrating a century of service to veterans, their families and communities. The stamp pays tribute to the Legion's enduring legacy and its continued role in Canadian life.

Since its incorporation in 1926, The Royal Canadian Legion has stood alongside veterans and their families while playing a leading role in remembrance across Canada. Through its advocacy, commemoration, and community-based programs, the Legion supports those who have served.

Rainbow Veterans of Canada

This week, as Nelson Pride celebrates diversity in our city, I want to highlight an organization called Rainbow Veterans. This Canadian group is made up of 2SLGBTQ+ members of the Canadian Armed Services, the RCMP, and the Federal Public Service. In the past, members were systematically discriminated against, harassed, and often fired as a matter of policy and sanctioned practice.
The “LGBT Purge” took place in Canada from the 1950s to the mid-1990s and caused tremendous harm to 2SLGBTQ+ members. CAF members who were 2SLGBTQ+ (or perceived to be) were treated shamefully as if they had betrayed their country and were unfit to serve. (CFAO 19-20). They were expelled from an organization they deeply admired and treated as outcasts. These veterans deserve the recognition, respect, and support that they have earned in their service to Canada.
The Royal Canadian Legion has a policy of equity, diversity and inclusion. The presence of differences enriches the Legion and reflects the communities it serves. We strive to welcome all people and integrate their perspectives and contributions into how our branch operates.
