Hello all, today is the first day of November, which kicks off Family Photos Kelowna's 9th year together! To date, the organization of fine men and women have raised $90,660 for The Cancer Foundation in Kelowna, BC. This year we hope to break the $100,000 mark, but can't do it without your help! Before I go any further, I would like to mention that we are doing things a little different this year. To explain this, I would like to share a short letter that I wrote to the members of FPK.

"Hello all, and welcome to year nine of Family Photos Kelowna. Over the past year The Family has branched out, seeing members start families of their own, start new jobs, or move to new cities. With these life changes comes a change in personal priorities. This shift in priorities means that not everyone enjoys repeating what The Family has been known to be best at, growing moustaches, dressing up silly, and drinking beer. To share my personal story, I have recently started a new job in Toronto managing a team where the average age is more than a decade older than me. In this position, I am very much out of my comfort zone, and my confidence level dreads the thought of having to try to mentor someone 10 years older than me while sporting the moustache of a 14 year old...
After a few of you have reached out to me with similar issues, I have decided to announce the theme for 2019 a little early. The theme for 2019 will be "yourself". This year I encourage you to act, fundraise, and participate as you feel the most comfortable as yourself. Don’t want to grow a stache? Don’t. Don’t want to drink? Don’t. Do you feel better concentrating on your new family or job? Sounds great, do that. Just be you, and if you want to donate to The BC Cancer Foundation, because it’s something you want to do, cool.
This year I have personally decided to not grow facial hair, I will be making a donation to the foundation that fits within my personal budget, and I will be traveling to Kelowna on Saturday November 30th because what makes me love this group so much, is spending time with all of you.
On November 30th I will be making a dinner reservation in Kelowna, showing up in something regular from my closet that I feel comfortable in, I will drink what ever I feel comfortable doing at the time, and I would like to take a single photo with my friends, as I want this year to focus on what is important, and what brought us all together, being a family of brothers and sisters."

As you can see, we will not be pursuing our normal activities, but following more of a personalized approach. Knowing this fact, if you would like to help us reach out $100,000 goal, because it's something you want to do, please reach out to me, or any member of FPK directly! Our fundraising page on The BC Cancer Foundation website is coming soon, and I will update you all when it is live!

Did you know that Family Photos Kelowna (Male and Female chapters) have raised over $70,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation since 2014? Our goal this year is to break the $80,000 mark, but we can't do it without your help! We still have $3411 to go before our finish date of December 2nd this year. Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of golf tournament this year, it was a pretty busy spring for the family photos planners. But a new summer idea has arised, soooo.... how many of you would be interested in a Family wine tour? Pick up in Kelowna, destination wine tour, followed by after party in Kelowna! Of course on a party bus/buses. All in favour?

🙌 We are soo proud to report that we raised $7,716.57 in September for Cervical Cancer research at the BC Cancer Foundation! 🙌 While we are saddened to report the Female Family Photos shoot pictures were lost. We still wanted to share our 30 Day Healthy Living Challenge success with you!

Moustache growing season is almost here!!!! I hope you are all as excited as we are!
(Ladies, we know you hate it but thank you for pretending not to.)
As October comes to a spooky close we would like to debut our new fundraising page on the BC Cancer Foundation website! Here you are able to donate to The Family's cause, or search for and select an individual member of The Family to donate to! The fancy new page will also directly email you a tax receipt after! (Fancy, I know.)
The Family has set an initial goal of $10,000 for the month and we are confident we will hit it!
