A Rotary Moment
From
The Rotary Club of Halifax Northwest
Welcome to the newsletter from the Rotary Club of Halifax Northwest, where we share the club’s news with the community we serve. This issue highlights our Rotary Wishes project and provides a peek into our upcoming Adventure Club fabulous travel draw.
It’s that time of year when our thoughts turn to Christmas. For most people, it’s an occasion to celebrate our good fortunes, spend time with family and exchange gifts. But for many, especially in the wake of high inflation, food insecurity and natural disasters, Christmas can be an emotional and financial challenge.
As in previous years, we are teaming up with the Joseph Howe Drive Atlantic Superstore and launching our popular Rotary Wishes campaign to brighten a few hearts at Christmas time. The Superstore is kindly providing space for the Rotary Wish tree, which will be “decorated” with individual Christmas wishes tags representing local disadvantaged individuals. Anyone wanting to grant a wish can select any of the decorations on the tree, purchase the desired items and take them to the Customer Service counter. Rotary “elves” from our club will pick up the purchased items and deliver them to community-minded organizations for distribution to deserving individuals. The campaign runs until 15 December. Please help us spread the joy and share the feeling of giving with Rotarians!
For those of you who have the travel bug, Our Adventure Club campaign is taking a different twist for our next draw. We will be selling tickets for trips to the Dominican Rebublic, Saint Lucia, Cozumel Mexico, Ireland (Causeway Coastal Route), Italy (Venice, Florence and Rome), and the Mayan Rivera, Mexico. For something totally different, the winners of all 6 trips will be drawn in one exciting session to be held on April 11th, 2026. All trips include return air travel and $500 spending money. Stay tuned, and visit our Adventure Club website at rotaryadventureclub.ca for more details.
By the time you read this, our club will have participated in the Spryfield Santa Claus Parade, with our very conspicuous Rotary Wheel float. As we do every year, money for a local food bank was collected as we walked the route. We are always impressed by the generosity of the Spryfield citizens who line the parade route.
Finally, we wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy 2026!
