Here's a handful of pics and vids from December/January!
Trying to show you the beginning of this new chapter of mine!
As my NSLC permit was expiring, I unloaded some BIG timbers for what will become my backwoods HQ. I think one of the coolest parts about living in rural Nova Scotia is the access to old school sawmills. It's kinda like going back in time when you visit some of the mills. These are mostly 8x8 Hemlock!
I would have froze my t**s off this past winter if not for stumbling in on kind folk. I am SO grateful for Alex, Ollie, and Co. Often, my big ideas get in the way of making smart choices. I didn't really know what else to do, so originally I was going to tough it out and rock outside all winter. But instead I ended up in a badass shop space, feeding a wood stove, and getting to know new friends. So stoked for that opportunity and I would be MONTHS behind where I am now.
Thanks you, thank you, thank you! ❤️
I've never cut a timber-frame before so I warmed up and made a cute set of 10' sawhorses that would help hold the larger timbers. I am really glad I tackled the sawhorses first, as it helped wrap my head around a little bit more of what was ahead of me.
Did I mention I have DIY running through my veins? I decided to tackle installing the Screw Piles for this project too. Cutting my teeth on the unknowns every other day for better or worse 😈
Stay tuned!
