The future is bright for Olivia Orosz.

Already, Olivia has competed in four National Championship matches and consistently earned selection to National Team programs, establishing herself as one of the top young athletes in Canadian club volleyball.

It’s always special to see athletes who have the mental and emotional tools, along with the physical talent, to keep pushing themselves to the next level with composure, confidence and grit.

Kinna Fisher is someone who makes things happen.

She’s thoughtful, coachable, and willing to look honestly at herself so she can keep growing. Kinna knows that confidence and opportunity don’t magically appear. She leans in, does the work, and creates her future.

Congratulations, Kinna, on a great U Sports career with UFV Women’s Volleyball and recognition as the Canada West Student-Athlete Community Service Award recipient and Cascades Female All-Around Student-Athlete of the Year.

Happy Mother’s Day! To all the incredible women who have supported us, believed in us, and helped shape us into who we are today, thank you.

I’m especially thankful for my amazing mom, for my daughters who are now wonderful mothers themselves, and for all the strong, caring women who continue to fuel dreams, guide others, and give so much of themselves every day.

Your impact reaches further than you know.

It was great to be on Vancouver Island this week with the Comox Valley Volleyball Club (CVVC).

Thank you to Julie Young and all the coaches for the growth mindset environment I walked into.

Across both the girls’ and boys’ teams, the athletes were open and willing to learn more about the mental and emotional side of their performance, a reflection of a really strong club culture.

We spent time together in the classroom and on the court, where the focus was emotional agility, an important skill for young athletes and for life.

Emotional agility is the ability to notice your thoughts and emotions, understand them without getting stuck in them, and choose how to respond in a way that aligns with your values.

It was fun to be on the court, where the athletes began to put that into action, noticing how they were doing and feeling in each rep.

Thank you to the CVVC community for the way you showed up. It was a privilege to be with you.

veronica † continues to earn opportunities to compete under pressure.

U SPORTS athletes compete all season for the chance to step into one weekend that decides it all.

Preparing all year for what can feel like one moment brings a lot with it.

Ronnie Dickson’s experience on the road to a U SPORTS National Championship offers a look at what it takes to meet that moment, and to begin seeing pressure as an opportunity.

Competing under pressure with confidence is a skill. It’s built over time, by stepping into these moments again and again, learning how to respond, and understanding how you want to show up when it matters.

The more you earn opportunities to compete under pressure, the more familiar it becomes.

Athletes like Ronnie continue to put themselves in these positions, and in doing so, prepare for the next opportunity to rise.

Ready for the moment.

Allie Moore’s experience on the road to a U SPORTS National Championship offers a quiet look at what calm confidence can feel like when it’s built over time, through the work.

It’s not about feeling perfect all season. It’s about staying with your process, and trusting it when the moment comes.

I was so fortunate to have Laila join me for the Best of the West (BOTW) weekend to share her strength and experience with the club athletes and coaches doing The Winner Will training.

Laila is a stunning example of what an athlete can accomplish when she is willing to do the physical, mental and emotional work it takes to compete with confidence and perform when it matters most. Congratulations to her and the entire U of A Pandas team for winning the 2026 U SPORTS National Championship!

Laila, thank you for the way you showed up with such care and honesty, and for sharing your experience in a way that truly connected with the athletes.

BOTW is a meaningful point in the season for club teams. Nationals are getting closer, and the work starts to show, but the pressure starts to sink in as well.

Learning to compete with confidence and perform under pressure doesn’t just happen. It’s built quietly, over time, in tournaments like these, where athletes and teams get to experience strong competition and learn how to work through those pressure filled moments.

To all the teams doing the work and stepping into that pressure, keep going!
