Our hearts go out to the Staines family and everyone who loved and knew Ms. Elvi. She is a legend and icon and helped put San Pedro on the global culinary radar. Our sincere condolences. 💔

It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to Ms. Elvi, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, jefa, friend to all, and a true pillar of our community in San Pedro. Ms. Elvi lived a long and influential life, leaving an undeniable mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind her legacy– the highly established Elvi’s Kitchen, and her large, united family. A testament to her dedication, warmth, and love for her community. As we prepare to honor her memory, we invite everyone to join us in celebrating her remarkable life.

Anyone feeling the same right now? With temperatures starting to cool down in many parts of the world, doesn’t a relaxing vacation on the beach in Belize sound good right about now? We are really missing lounging by the pool at Victoria House Resort & Spa in San Pedro.
Do you have any plans to travel to Belize before 2021 is over?
Please note, there are still COVID rules and restrictions in place, as well as a curfew. Check the official websites for the most up-to-date entry requirements. We’ve seen several posts in Belize travel groups recently about ways around the mask mandate and bringing forged vaccination records. Please, be considerate and follow the rules and laws in place. Belize has limited medical resources on the mainland, and even fewer options on the cayes. Help keep our friends and families who work in tourism safe by social distancing and respecting the mask mandates and the dining vaccination requirements.
