The Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Tiroeaone Ntsima, has issued the Liquor (Amendment) Regulations, 2025, which will be effective from 24 December 2025 to 4 January 2026. The updated regulations adjust the operating hours for various liquor license holders, including bars, restaurants, liquor depots, clubs, bottle stores, wholesalers, nightclubs, and temporary liquor traders at festivals and events.

According to the new schedule, bars and clubs can operate from 1000hrs to 0600hrs, while bottle stores are allowed to open from 0800hrs to 2200hrs. Nightclubs and discotheques will have extended hours from 1700hrs to 0600hrs. Temporary liquor traders at festivals and fairs may operate from 1000hrs to 0600hrs.
