Part 3 of the origin story. If you are just finding this start at part 1.
After that first trip to Guadeloupe at 13 I made myself a promise. I was going back as often as I possibly could.
And I kept that promise.
My mom had moved to Florida which made it easy. The Bahamas became my playground. Bimini. Other islands that back then were barely developed and felt like the most incredible hidden secrets. Pure adventure every single time.
Then came the cruises. Then came the trips where I could really explore. I have been to over half of the main islands in the Caribbean. There are even a few on this map where I honestly cannot remember if I made it there or not.
But here is what I remember about every single trip.
I felt it. That same feeling I felt at 13 in Guadeloupe. That sense of belonging. Of coming home to a place that was not technically home but felt more like it than anywhere else.
I had come from a childhood marked by abandonment and abuse. And somehow the Caribbean kept giving me back to myself.
So I kept going back. And back. And back. And back.
Until one day I stopped going back as a visitor and started asking — what if I built something here?
Part 4 coming soon.
