🐝✨ A swarm arrived at this house, and we were called to remove it safely both for the bees and for the people living there.

When a swarms leave their hive, they are usually searching for a new home 🏡🐝. To help them settle, we place them in a small box with some beeswax comb, so they can adapt more easily.

In this video, you can see the queen 👑🐝 and how the bees start entering the box, following her scent and presence.

Many times, we wait until nighttime 🌙 and use a red light 🔴, because bees react much less to red light than to regular white light. With patience and a little smoke, they slowly move into the box.

After that, we take them to one of our apiaries around Aruba 🇦🇼, where they can live safely, continue their important work, and no longer cause any disturbance.

🐝🍯 What is a refractometer?

This photo was taken during my recent visit to Colombia while inspecting one of the honey batches before shipment to Aruba.

The instrument shown is called a refractometer.

A refractometer is used by beekeepers to measure the moisture content of honey and help determine if honey is ready for harvest.

🔬 This batch measured approximately 18.5% moisture, a good reading for harvesting and storing honey.

Every honey has its own story, but good beekeeping always starts with understanding the tools we use and continuing to learn.

Due to the recent droughts affecting honey production in Aruba, we have added a carefully selected Colombian honey line to help keep quality honey available for our customers throughout the year.

This is not honey purchased from an unknown source. We personally traveled to Colombia, visited the apiaries, met the beekeepers and followed the harvesting process before bringing this honey to Aruba.

We believe in being transparent about what we sell.
That's why our labels clearly state the honey's origin.
