Dear Thornbury & friends of Zaubertrank,

This will be our final week of trading in our current form and location. The past year has been a wild ride and we really can’t thank you all enough for the support and smiles along the way.

After this Saturday, we’ll be taking a short break, before reappearing in our new permanent home (even closer to Carwyn Cellars 👀).

𝙉𝙀𝙒 𝘾𝙊𝘾𝙆𝙏𝘼𝙄𝙇 𝘼𝙇𝙀𝙍𝙏 🍸

Another addition to our cocktail menu by Preston behind the bar!

Our second magic potion it’s a nice fruity but complex drink. Very drinkable and delicious, almost dangerous for the same reasons 🔥

🔸 𝑲𝒊𝒘𝒊 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒓

A great cocktail to start your soirée, made with the award winning The Gospel Whiskey Straight Rye, with a nice rich spice character and vanilla oak flavours. This delicious whiskey is mixed with some freshly made kiwi puree which adds sweetness with a bit of lemon juice to cut through the sweetness and add that delicious extra tartness 🥝

Note that this sour cocktail is made with aquafaba instead of the traditional egg-white, so it’s vegan-friendly and deliciously fluffy and creamy 🤤☁

The Trank is open form 2PM on Fridays and Saturdays, see ya there! ✌

We talk a lot about this particular beverage, maybe you should know why! 😮

Probably the most famous bitter in the world, UNDERBERG has become a staple of German digestifs.

In 1846 Hubert Underberg carefully selected the herbs from 43 countries and developed a process that guarantees gentle extraction of the active ingredients from the exquisite, aromatic herbs. They call their secret process "SEMPER IDEM", which means "Always the same" and only 5 people know it, and has been kept the same for five generations under the same family.

It has no sugar added, which makes it quite bitter, but very complex. A great digestif to make you feel invigorated 💪 (and yes, the full bottle is one serving).

Give it a go today in our Wursty Thursdays from 5:30pm, only $5 a pop 😉

𝙉𝙀𝙒 𝘾𝙊𝘾𝙆𝙏𝘼𝙄𝙇 𝘼𝙇𝙀𝙍𝙏 🍸

Since we love all kinds of magic potions, we decided to whip up some new ones for you all 😉

Preston, garçon and bartender extraordinaire, has come up with a couple of delicious concoctions to elevate your visit to the next level 💪

First up, a unique and delicious end-of-dinner, digestif kind of cocktail (although it’s so yum that we won’t judge you for ordering it as soon as you walk in 😜)

🔸 𝑵𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒚 𝑮𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏

This one consists of a blend of a German digestif, a nice fruity twist with some Crème de Cassis (Blackcurrant liqueur) and finally lemon juice to cut through the sweetness. It’s full flavoured with a beautiful herbal complexity, perfect to wrap up a good evening or to get you started 🔥

We’re open from 2PM Fridays and Saturdays, see you at the Trank!

Yup, Thursdays are now German night and at 1980’s-Oktoberfest-level-silly pricing too.

Here’s what you can expect every Thursday from 5:30pm at Zaubertrank:

🔹 German Snack Menu (Curry knackwurst, baked pretzels, crumbed mushrooms, baked potatoes and more!)
🔹 $10 glasses of rotating banging German wines
🔹 $10 500ml tallies of classic rad German biers
🔹 $5 bottles of UNDERBERG! Yep. As the cherry on top and a great way to finish any meal (or kickstart your evening 😈)

If "Tight-shell Tuesdays" are anything to go by, we highly recommend booking, but you can always try you luck with a sneaky walk-in.

Hot on the heals of our hugely popular “𝑻𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑺𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝑻𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔”, we are excited to announce our next weekly theme night “𝑾𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒚 𝑻𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚”! Yup, Thursdays are now German night and at 1980’s-Oktoberfest-level-silly pricing too.

Yes, we do have a focus on German Wines, but we absolutely adore local producers, especially when they make such good wine as this:

𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐞 🍇

Sonnen Wine are a small producer from Tasmania. Sonnen is the side project of talented Tasmanian viticulturist Luke Andree who makes these small batch wines alongside his day job at Mewstone Wines.

"This wine is a pseudo-Alsatian style blend of 75% Riesling from the Coal and 25% Gewurztraminer from the Upper Tamar. The Gewurz was fermented on skins for 2 weeks bringing a slight pink tinge and a bit of grip. Aromatic and bright for springtime picnic drinking."

Yeah it's an Australian wine, but we do love our German grapes, especially something as refreshing as this 😜

Every week we see Chef Michael Pyke with different recipes and specials made with the freshest and most delicious ingredients he finds. He reckons the best food comes from simplicity, good produce and good relationships with the suppliers, we agree.

This week we have a new, and very fresh, special we just needed to highlight:

🍽 𝑮𝒊𝒏-𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒇𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑰𝒔𝒓𝒂𝒆𝒍𝒊 𝒀𝒐𝒈𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒐𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑩𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉

This dish brings a fresh element to our menu, with vibrant flavours, earthiness from the beetroot and the creamy character of the Kingfish. The yoghurt sharpness manages to bring these two different elements together perfectly! Just fantastic 🤤

Pair with a glass of 𝑫𝒓. 𝑳𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒏 “𝑫𝒓. 𝑳” 𝑫𝒓𝒚 𝑴𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒍 𝑹𝒊𝒆𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 😉
