La Rosa The Strand by Pendolino is an elegant Italian wine bar and osteria located in Sydney’s historic Strand Arcade. "Set in the lofty heights of Sydney’s Strand Arcade, La Rosa The Strand is an exciting new offering from the team behind the hugely successful and long standing Pendolino restaurant. La Rosa opened in June and was packed to the rafters with those who know the Pendolino’s formula well, and those who were keen to see the newest member of Sydney’s growing bar scene. Owner Nino Zoccali said his pride for the new venture was his passion to showcase dozens of hard to find Italian aperitifs and liqueurs, and the cocktail list on offer showcases just some of what’s available.

“A great deal of care and research has gone into the new restaurant, ” Zoccali stated. “[Having] fifty Italian liqueurs by the glass will, to our knowledge, be a first in Australia and will add a true sense of classic Italian hospitality.”

The bar holds centre court in La Rosa, and guests are able to walk right past the kitchen on their way inside giving an all access look into the engine room. “I believe that La Rosa will be a great addition to the Sydney CBD,” said Zoccali, “the thought of opening an authentic and fantastic new pizzeria and bar is very exciting.”

Diners are treated to a range of La Rosa’s own crafted small goods as well as traditional stone baked pizza made with aged dough and the finest of Italian and Australian ingredients. The Bar features a short Southern Italian influenced list of selected Italian wines as well as 50 Italian liqueurs available by the glass. Italian Liqueur based cocktails are also be featured in the bar as well as a list of boutique and regional Italian beers.

One possible exception that proves the rule in Sydney is Nik Hill - ex Quay, Sepia, The Ledbury (yeah that one), and in-the-know foodie haunt The Old Fitz pub - for those needing an intro. While his time at the Fitz was cut short due to 'creative differences', much to the tears of many a foodie, things happily worked out with lending their space to form the Milan Cricket Club pop-up, which runs till the end of the year.
Think, classic scotch eggs w/oxford sauce, whole hog terrine, raw beef on dripping toast, pig's head schnitty burgers and damn good Yorkshire pud with the lot, one of the best pork dishes I've had this year - AND MORE. All washed down an gin of your choice from the dedicated gin trolley served by waitstaff in plaid - both bowtie and mask - and well, it's all pretty swell, if I don't say so myself. While it is a shame that this isn't permanent, I'm not going to chalk it up as a hat trick of posts on closures, as it was always a pop-up to begin with - so get those bookings in! Thanks for helping out with the overordering. Classic foodie trope!
