Things are getting a little spicy behind the bar this week 🌶️🥃

This week’s Rum of the Week is Nusa Caña Spiced, bringing a little Indonesian heat to the party. (if you couldn't already tell...)

Nusa Caña is a Balinese rum that takes inspiration from Indonesia’s long rum-making history and the legendary Spice Islands, with this one bringing together pineapple, ginger, coffee, cacao, nutmeg and clove. Sweet, spicy, and funky all in one.

Rum fans may also be interested to learn that Indonesia's take on rum making differs a little from standard Caribbean rums. Often referred to as Batavia Arrack, this style of rum is created with Indonesian sugar cane molasses and wild yeast grown on red rice.
In the case of Nusa Caña, it's then distilled in antique Chinese pot stills and matured in Javanese teak casks before blending.

Some cocktails and some rums are inseparable and iconic, and this week's Rum of the Week is certainly one of them 🍹

Goslings Black Seal Rum has been made in Bermuda for over 200 years and is the original rum behind the infamous Dark 'n Stormy.
It's rich with notes of butterscotch, vanilla and spice, and it's built to stand up to the spicy kick of ginger b**r without getting lost in the storm (pardon the pun).

We're pouring it two ways: the classic Dark 'n Stormy, or our Turbo Dark 'n Stormy if you're after a little something extra - It's made with Cannabis Botanical Distillery's (CBD's) alcoholic ginger b**r straight from Denmark in the Great Southern of WA.

CLOSED MONDAY 31ST AUGUST

Jungle Bird will be closed this Monday as we celebrate and bid farewell to our most longstanding crewmate Stringer. For years he's been cooking up a storm in the kitchen, serving great food to the good people of Fremantle, and just generally being a solid and steady presence here in the Jungle.

Now he's off on his next chapter in life, so we'll be taking the day on Monday to have a little family gathering to send him off in true JB style.

Cheers Stringer! So long, and thanks for all the chips 😉
