THURSDAY AND FRIDAY KARAOKE AT THE DOWNUNDER
Last night’s photos are going up now, and they show exactly why karaoke nights at The Downunder keep going off: big songs, great people, plenty of laughs and a crowd that gets behind everyone who grabs the mic.
Now we’re doing it all again tonight — and again tomorrow night.

What a cracker of a night at The Downunder Bar last Wednesday night! 🎱

Jim "James" Harris is on an absolute tear, taking down his FIFTH week of Season 3 and extending his lead at the top of the ladder. Twenty players battled it out, but James was unstoppable, sending Ali "Alchemy" Satera to the runner-up spot in a quality final. Dale "Mr Bean" Bell and Nick King both grabbed equal third, with Tony "Couchman" Harrison, Samuel "Sam" Kris, Charlie "Chucks" Sailor, and John Paul "Lailah" Eugenio rounding out the top eight.

Here's where we stand with seven weeks still to play — James has rocketed to 123 points and looks untouchable at the moment. Couchman's sitting second on 116, Sam's got 95, and the race is heating up behind them. We've got nine players already locked in for finals, but spots 10-16 are wide open. Peter Sailor's knocking on the door with 60 points from four weeks, while Justin Ryder's sitting on 40 from four appearances. There's still PLENTY of time to make your move.

The finals jackpot now sits at $525 and counting, with the big showdown set for October 31st. Every Wednesday brings us closer, and with this kind of competition, anything can happen.

One massive Saturday at The Downunder!

Ch*****ne Supernova, Loser Baby, Kingston Town and Wicked Game were crowd favourites — and someone slipped in Jingle Bells. It’s September, mate. 😂

From Cold Chisel and Hoodoo Gurus to Luke Combs and The Ballad of Chasey Lain, the song choices kept us on our toes all night.

The prize wheel delivered 16 wins! Big cheers to Emily Y and Fletcher F for scoring $25 each, and Dion B for landing $50. Congrats to everyone who picked up a prize!

🎤 THURSDAY WAS MASSIVE — AND WE GO AGAIN TONIGHT!

64 legends grabbed the mic and smashed through 78 songs at The Downunder Bar last night! Here are the photos — spot yourself and tag your mates.

Dirty Harry by Gorillaz and Ch*****ne Supernova by Oasis both got a second run, while The Rodeo Song and Frank Zappa’s Joe’s Garage kept things interesting. A predictable playlist? Never heard of it.

The Chicks’ Wide Open Spaces got three separate outings, These Boots Are Made for Walkin’ had everyone strutting, and someone pulled out Jingle Bells in September. Give it a few months, mate. 😂

What a massive Saturday night at The Downunder! 97 songs from 81 different singers absolutely smashing it on the mic tonight. The energy was absolutely electric from the first note to the last call.

Dark Horse took out the top spot with three separate performances — clearly Katy Perry still has us in our feelings. We had back-to-back All Star renditions because honestly, someone's gotta be a rockstar, and two brave souls tackled I'll Make a Man Out of You. Respect. Shoutout to whoever threw down Jingle Bells in September — you're either very confused or very committed, and we love it either way.

The prize wheel was on fire with five lucky spinners walking away with cash! Benjamin A and Sharni R scored $20 each, while Ocean P, Issy S, and Ari Caro F grabbed $10 notes. Not a bad way to fund your next round.

We're back Wednesday night for another massive session. Doors open at 4 PM, karaoke kicks off at 9 PM. Bring your mates, pick your power ballad, and let's see if we can crack 100 songs. Tag someone who's been talking big but hasn't stepped up to the mic yet — Wednesday's their night!

Friday night at the Downunder, in numbers: 71 songs, 61 singers, first one on the mic at 9:06pm and the last one still going at 2:41am. Adaline took the crown as the most-sung song of the night, with a proper fight for second between How You Remind Me, Mercy, Beautiful Things, Cool and a bit of ABBA.

Huge thanks to everyone who got up, and to the duets who carried each other through it.

And we're doing it all again TONIGHT. Karaoke Saturday at The Downunder Bar, Cairns. Kiosks open 8:30pm to get your song in the queue, show kicks off 9pm and runs late. Come sing, come watch, come cheer, just come.
