We are liking the digital world happening for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane at the moment; hosted by Treasury Casino and Hotel; the use of their QR code (unfortunately buried on The Fashion Bar page as an afterthought) is awesome; I scanned with Google Goggles; takes you straight to their mbff App which does all the leg work for you as to what is on; great mobile site page; sponsor Campos well positioned; there you can pick the program soooo easily; no website scrolling;find sponsor coupons and offerings; find the designer list; just a fab gig; fashion industry is getting hot with QR codes (as they say) "get snapped"

We like to see who is using QR Codes-few effectively I am sorry to say. Here is the College of Natural Beauty struggling with their QR code which you scan to simply see they have an event-on a static website which I had to scroll around while I lost interest in its details; the advertisement meanwhile noted a free gift was up for grabs; wouldn't it have been better served if the gift was "won" the instant that any millennials scanned! I opened this advertisement in Style Magazine Brisbane with Google goggles.

Today we look at how the Solar industry might extend its wares in the local suburban newspaper; the company dropped in this QR Code to its advertisement; scanning it to a reduced size website too difficult to read ; whereby I immediately lost some interest; there was no compelling reason to look further; there was a copy of the same ad on the homepage; it turned out to be a video guide by Great Solar; a series of screens difficult to read on a smart phone. We have started looking at other industries using QR Codes: first is coffee and here is Genovese (Italiano for from Genoa); and the Italians are one of the best coffee makers in Europe (having just come back from Sicily I can vouch for the good espresso habits there). Genovese make the scanning of their QR code pretty much a waste of time-the result is just an unfocussed link to their web site. This is not mobile enabled so scrambling around the page to find information will probably lose most people who use this QR Code. We will seek to find more informative product sites.

Brancott Estate (once Montana-the original kiwi sauvignon, part of Pernod Pacific) have issued a very definitive QR Code on their current Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011-12.5%; its scans easily back to a mobile website which asks your age (who lies to corrupt the demographic analysis??) then picks up a tasting note 2011 and suggested foods; asks to login via Facebook or Tweet the site; if you wish; unfortunately the wine awards are about a previous vintage-2009 which has no relevance (poor form); to scan further then it goes to the snail site (immobilised) to read more about the company; http://www.brancottestate.com/our-wines/our-wine/classic-range

LIKE THIS Nepenthe Pinot Noir 2010; AUD 20; 14%; really top value for pinot noir from the Adelaide Hills; the wine has great pinot fruitiness; in your face fruit really which is what such a budget wine should deliver; no hint of oak but likely to be there marginally, the lovely soft body and cosy flavours are all that's needed; drunk with barramundi; QR code link is provided, could not scan with ConnectMe, Denso came to the party (poor registration); here is the link from the QR Code http://www.nepenthe.com.au/go/food-and-wine/wine-varieties/pinot-noir which generically describes the grape then gives a duck recipe; yahoo.
